LAND RECLAMATION

Of about 167.5 million sq Km of the world’s lands surface, nearly 105.5 million sq km consists of barren deserts, ice-covered terrains and rocky surfaces, which cannot be used for any productive proposes. Land has become a scarce commodity. There is no doubt that the demands of an expanding population shall put more and more stains on our lands resources in future. Thus, we must make effort to reclaim land, which are termed as wastelands. Reclamation revolves around methods to control soil erosion, retain more on surface, enhance its downward percolation and provide more organic matter so as to improve soil structure.
